AED Information

Empowering rescuers with Real CPR Help

RPRC has available the ZOLL® AED Plus at our range.  It is in our Gate House, adjacent the entry gate, available 24/7 for use in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, and accessed through the labeled door on the front of the shed.

This page, and the linked content is provided as a resource for members use to familiarize themselves with its use.  The following content is extracted from the ZOLL Technologies website.

The ZOLL® AED Plus® continues to set the benchmark for design, dependability, durability, and performance. Only half of sudden cardiac arrest victims will initially need a shock, but all require high-quality CPR. The AED Plus guides rescuers in performing high-quality CPR and will deliver a shock if needed.

Real CPR Help® technology provides real-time feedback on rate and depth of chest compressions and supports rescuers with integrated text, voice, and visual prompts.

How Real CPR Help Works

Using accelerometer technology, a sensor inside ZOLL’s CPR electrodes captures the rate and depth of each compression. Once the electrodes are placed on the patient, the person providing CPR presses on the clearly marked hand placement indicator that covers the sensor. The information captured is sent to the defibrillator, where it is immediately processed and provided in real time to the rescuer.

Just Enough Help

On the AED Plus® and the AED Pro®, rescuers will hear—and see—“Push Harder” or “Good Compressions”, as well as encouragement to “Start CPR” if needed.  In addition, on all ZOLL AEDs and professional defibrillators, an adaptive metronome will guide you to provide the Guidelines-recommended rate of compressions. What you see and/or hear will depend on how your device is configured.
