Pistol Events

While our 25 yd Pistol range is available to all club members & guests during normal operating hours, RP&RC is committed to providing our membership opportunities to exercise and enhance their shooting skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

In addition to the several Club Pistol Matches held annually (see full information under Matches) we hold regularly scheduled shooting events for members and guests, providing a venue where you will always have others to enjoy the sport with.
See the descriptions of our pistol events below, and go to the Club Calendar to see what is scheduled for any particular day.

NRA Certified Pistol Instructors and/or Range Safety Officers are on hand for each event. Informal coaching and instruction is available free for the new shooter, or for more experienced shooters just to improve your current skill level.

Lady's Pistol Shoot

2nd Thursday each month from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
4th  Thursday each month from  10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: RP&RC Pistol (25yd) range
Who: Ladies Only!  This program is for our lady members and their guests only (Guests must sign in & abide by the current Guest Policy). Spouses of members are welcome to attend as a guest of a member, or as a guest of the event coordinator.
Prospective members may use this event as one of their three qualifying events to satisfy the club membership requirements.  You may come as a “guest” of an existing member, or request to be a guest of the event coordinator by using the “Contact Us” tab of this website to request attendance or contact Pistol co-chair  Ann Cooper to arrange.

What: Remember that little pistol that sits in your drawer (or safe, purse, glove box, etc.) and never sees the light of day? Well, here’s the chance for the ladies of RP&RC to join together for some camaraderie, fun and good old range practice time in a relaxed, supportive and non-intimidating environment.
This event is organized to help you get “on target” and to further your shooting expertise.  While this is not a structured “class”, lots of expert advice will be available.  On occasion some of our club’s resident NRA pistol instructors will be on hand to offer their coaching tips to better enable you to confidently and functionally handle your firearm. arm.

NOTE: Firearm safety is always our first priority. All participants will be expected to act as responsibly armed citizens at all times.

At noon, we adjourn to Willaby’s on the Rappahannock for lunch. All are welcome to join us — at the Range — at lunch — either or both.

Your questions, ideas and suggestions for activities will be welcomed and incorporated into the days’ event.
