Pistol Events

While our 25 yd Pistol range is available to all club members & guests during normal operating hours, RP&RC is committed to providing our membership opportunities to exercise and enhance their shooting skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

In addition to the several Club Pistol Matches held annually (see full information under Matches) we hold regularly scheduled shooting events for members and guests, providing a venue where you will always have others to enjoy the sport with.
See the descriptions of our pistol events below, and go to the Club Calendar to see what is scheduled for any particular day.

NRA Certified Pistol Instructors and/or Range Safety Officers are on hand for each event. Informal coaching and instruction is available free for the new shooter, or for more experienced shooters just to improve your current skill level.

What the Ladies’ Shoot is all about
The Ladies’ Shoot, now in its 9th year, is an event for Ladies to shoot for their own enjoyment.
Instruction is NEVER available at this event. This is NOT a pistol class for beginners. Even though qualified Pistol Instructor(s) may be present at the event, they are there to shoot for their own enjoyment — NOT TO INSTRUCT, and not to oversee someone inexperienced. Likewise, our Range Safety Officer is responsible for supervising the entire pistol Range and cannot be confined to supervising one inexperienced participant (whether member or guest). Our event is a splendid way to increase confidence and proficiency while enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded women. Participants must be self-sufficient and must be well grounded in safety rules. Anyone inexperienced should sign up for a Basic Pistol class. See the Club website for information about upcoming Basic Pistol classes.

First and foremost, our emphasis at all times is on safety. A safety briefing precedes each event
with a reminder that there are 3 essential elements to gun safety: Knowledge, Skills, and
Attitude. All 3 elements must be present to insure the safety of our ladies (and anyone else at
the Range).

We often have lunch together after we shoot. Sometimes we go to a nearby restaurant. Other times we take our lunch to the Range. This is decided on an individual basis each time we shoot.
